Alocasia ‘Emerald Tide’ *Grower’s Choice*

Alocasia ‘Emerald Tide’ (also widely known as Alocasia ‘Frydek Tattoo’) is a rare mutant cultivar of Alocasia micholitziana ‘Green Velvet’ prized for its highly unusual texture and underside markings. Unlike a standard Frydek, this selection develops deeply undulating, ruffled leaf margins and an embossed, uneven surface that gives the foliage a sculpted appearance. Its most distinctive feature appears on the abaxial (underside) of the leaf, where irregular pigmentation and mottling form unique, tattoo-like markings between the veins. The leaves retain a rich emerald-green tone and strong venation while expressing this uncommon textural mutation. This cultivar has a compact, upright growth habit and grows best in bright, indirect light with evenly moist, well-draining soil and warm, stable conditions.
