Our Standard

Uncompromising Quality

At Leaf Loom Plants, we believe that purchasing a rare plant should be a joyful, worry-free experience. Before any specimen is listed for sale, it undergoes a rigorous inspection and acclimation process in our US-based facilities.

  • Pest-Free Guarantee Every plant is routinely treated with systemic and preventative horticultural pest management to ensure your home remains safe.
  • Established Root Systems We never sell fresh cuttings disguised as rooted plants. Every specimen has a robust, well-established root system ready to thrive.
  • Pre-Shipment Inspection Our horticulturalists perform a final 5-point health check immediately before packing to guarantee the plant meets our elite standards.

Acclimating Your New Plant

Shipping is a stressful event for living things. How you treat your plant immediately after unboxing will dictate its long-term success. Please follow these crucial steps:

1

Gentle Unboxing

Carefully slice the tape on the exterior box. Gently pull the plant out from the base (not the leaves). Unwrap the protective paper and remove any polyfil. Leave the damp sphagnum moss around the roots intact.

2

Dim Lighting

Do not place your new plant in bright light or direct sun. The plant has been in absolute darkness for days. Place it in a dim, humid environment for 48 hours to allow its stomata to adjust without burning.

3

Do Not Repot

Leave the roots wrapped in our premium sphagnum moss (or in its nursery pot, if applicable) for at least 5 to 7 days. Repotting immediately causes severe compound shock. Do not apply fertilizer for at least 30 days.

Long-Term Success

Aroid Care Fundamentals

While each genus has unique requirements, these four pillars apply to nearly all tropical rare plants in our collection.

Bright Indirect Light

Most tropicals thrive in bright, filtered light. Direct afternoon sun will scorch leaves, while deep shade halts growth. East or West facing windows are ideal.

Proper Watering

Overwatering is the #1 killer of rare plants. Allow the top 2-3 inches of soil to dry completely before watering thoroughly. Never let the pot sit in standing water.

High Humidity

Aroids, Begonias, and Alocasias originated in rainforests. They prefer humidity levels between 60% and 80%. Consider a humidifier or an indoor greenhouse cabinet.

Chunky Soil Mix

Tropical roots need oxygen. Use a well-draining, chunky mix consisting of orchid bark, perlite, horticultural charcoal, and premium potting soil to prevent root rot.
