Philodendron melanochrysum variegated *Grower’s Choice*

Philodendron melanochrysum variegated is a rare climbing form of the classic velvet-leaf species, known for its elongated, heart-shaped foliage with a deep emerald to near-black sheen and striking splashes of cream, pale yellow, or soft mint variegation that varies leaf to leaf. Juvenile leaves are smaller and more subdued, but as the plant matures and is given a support to climb, the foliage can become significantly larger with a richer velvet texture and more dramatic contrast in color. The variegation often appears in marbled streaks or sectoral blocks, making each vine visually distinct. It thrives in bright, indirect light to maintain stable coloration, a loose, airy aroid mix that retains light moisture without becoming heavy, and warm, humid conditions that support steady, continuous growth.
